Walkways and Granite Steps in Stratham, NH
Paver and natural stone walks, granite entry steps, and old brick walkways rebuilt, for Stratham homes. Built by the Up North Scapes crew, based a short drive away in Newmarket.

Very nicely done and Derek kept me informed when his team would be at the house.
Walkways in Stratham, Answered
What makes a walkway last through a Stratham winter?
Depth and drainage, not the paver you pick. The stretch from late winter into spring is the hard part, when wet ground softens by afternoon and locks up again overnight. So the walk needs proper depth excavation, gravel compacted in lifts, pitch that carries water away, and edge restraints to hold the surface tight.
Our brick walk is cracked and settling. Rebuild or repair?
Usually rebuild, and usually in the same footprint. We have taken out cracked, settled brick walkways and rebuilt them as granite edged paver walkways on a proper base, with new granite steps in place of the worn brick.
Do you build the steps as well as the walk?
Yes, and on most entries they are the same job. Steps get set level on a compacted base with a consistent rise and run. We use granite for a home you plan to stay in, because concrete is porous and freeze and thaw wears it down over a few winters.
Can planting beds along the walk be part of the same project?
Yes. Up North Scapes installs plantings as well as hardscape, so new beds along a walk can go on the same quote. Derek, the owner, is OSU Certified in Home Horticulture.

Why can two quotes for the same Stratham walk be thousands apart?
The cheaper one has usually saved that money underneath, where nobody can see it. Our walkways and granite steps page lays out what we put under a walk and why.
